To have fun and enjoy candle casting, we recommend that you equip yourself with the following tools and materials in advance:
1. Take precautions beforehand to be safe when pouring candles. Protect your work surface from wax spills, work in a well-ventilated area, and keep flammable materials away.
2. Wax: This is the main material for candle casting. There are different types of wax, such as beeswax, soy wax or paraffin wax. Choose the wax that best suits your preferences and needs.
3. Wicks: Wicks are the candle bodies that absorb the liquid wax and serve as fuel. There are pre-made wicks, but you can also use cotton cords that have been treated with wax.
4. Molds: For freestanding candles, you will need molds to create the desired candle shape. There are different shapes made from metal, glass, plastic or silicone depending on what style or shape you prefer.
5. Wax Dyes (optional): If you want to make colored candles, you will need wax dyes. These can come in liquid or solid form and are added to the wax to achieve the desired color. Check out our CandleCraft Shop for the right candle colors.
6. Fragrance Oils (Optional): If you want to make scented candles, you can use fragrance oils. These are added to the liquid wax to give off a pleasant scent. In our CandleCraft Shop you can find a very large selection of scents in many different directions.
7. Pouring vessels: You will need heat-resistant containers or pouring vessels to melt the liquid wax and later pour it into the molds. Metal pots or special watering vessels made of plastic or stainless steel work well.
8. Thermometer: A thermometer is useful for monitoring the temperature of the liquid wax and ensuring that it does not overheat or cool before pouring it into the mold.
9. Tools: Some useful tools include a stir stick or spoon for mixing the dyes and fragrance oils, scissors for cutting the wicks, and a lighter or matches for lighting the candles.
You can find all the instructions, various fragrance oils and candle colors in our CandleCraft Shop.
Have fun creating your own candles!
